Omaha Poker - The four card game

In Omaha you play with four cards in the hand instead of two as you would do in Texas Holdem. It might be difficult for players who usually play Texas Holdem to change their way of thinking. In Texas Holdem there are 169 different starting hands but in Omaha there are over 4000. Therefore, the players must remember other things when playing Omaha.

Having four cards in the hand gives more combinations than what Texas Holdem got. You can only use two of them, which means that you have six different combinations in your hand. If you got for example A, K, Q, J in your hand you can create six different hands: AK, AQ, AJ, KQ, KJ, QJ. All are really good hands.

Hands that are quite weak in Texas Holdem can be really good hands in Omaha. You should not forget that you can only use two of the cards. For instance, you have four eights in your hand, that does not mean you have four of a kind, it means you will not be able to get four of a kind, not even three of a kind. The hand is therefore something you should fold.
